Cheese and Charcuterie with wine is a glorious combination and one we celebrate all the time, to simplify proceedings, here are some of our favourites. Light reds such as Merlot, Sangiovese and Pinot Noir are the perfect complement to a good quality cheese especially with a stilton. Mid to heavy bodied reds like Cabernet Sauvignon or Malbec mesh well with big flavour continental meats. The rich texture, fruit and high acidity of Petit Chablis and Pinot Grigio blend beautifully with an array of different cheeses, from mild Cheddars to Smoked. Chardonnay is really at its best though when enjoyed with creamy Brie’s as the balance of acidity in the wine with the buttery cheese is just the right pair. A zippy and dry Rosé combines enough weight and fruit to match any cheese and meat platter, the finish is clean against the saltiness making each sip refreshing. Don’t forget the crusty bread, oat cakes, olives and a sweet chili jam to top of proceedings.
